Spaying and Neutering
Sterilizing your pet is the most responsible thing to do.
For males, it involves the removal of the testicles through a small incision. As for females, it involves a longer surgery where the ovaries and uterus are removed. Sterilizing sounds complicated or painful but rest assured your pets will never feel pain. In fact, they will be happier, healthier and live a longer life because of it!
Why do it?
We have a MASSIVE stray dog and cat — about 2 million cats (HBKU 2022) — population in Qatar…breeding or having “accidental litters” just adds to the problem. Are you really prepared to take care of 4-12 kittens 3 times a year?! What about 1-12 puppies 3 times a year?! Check out the infographic, it shows just how much breeding adds to the population.
Sure, we all say we want to re-home the babies to others but rescuers usually end up catching them on the street either dead, severely sick or injured. And is it really fair to expose your pet to disease, injury and fights? This all comes with the territory of breeding…not to mention it shortens their lives.
